The short version

  • Right now we hold the email address you gave the waitlist, which link brought you to it, which country you were in, and a record of what you agreed to.
  • What you tell Solenna is yours. We don't sell it, we don't advertise against it, and we don't hand it to anyone who asks.
  • Solenna remembers your story because that's the product - and you can read, edit, or delete any of it.
  • Delete your account and the memory goes with it.

01Who we are

Solenna is a companion app for people walking away from cannabis. This policy covers the waitlist site you're reading and the app when it launches. Questions go to hi@solenna.app.

The registered company details, and the name of the data controller of record, will be published here before the app launches. Until then hi@solenna.app reaches the person responsible for this policy.

02What we collect today

If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, the date you signed up, and the campaign tag carried by the link you arrived on, if it had one. That's the whole list. We use the address to tell you when early access opens, and for nothing else.

Campaign tags are the utm_source-style labels we put on our own links, so we can tell that you came from, say, an Instagram post rather than a search. They tell us which piece of outreach worked. They are not a profile of you, they say nothing about what you did before or after, and if you arrive without one we store nothing in their place. We keep only those five standard fields, and we cap and strip them before they are stored.

We also keep a small consent record: the date-stamped version of this policy, and of the line under the form, that were in force when you signed up, and that by joining you confirmed you were 18 or over. And we keep the country your request came from, worked out by our hosting provider at the edge of its network from your connection at that moment. We keep the two-letter country code only, not the address it was derived from.

We do not store your IP address, your device or browser, or the page you came from.

Separately from anything about you, we keep a running count of how many times this page was viewed, per hour and per campaign tag. That count contains no identifier and cannot be linked to you; section 13 describes it.

03What the app will collect

  • Your account - email, and a first name if you give one.
  • Your story - why you're stopping, your triggers, your hard hours, your start date, your day count, anything you ask Solenna to remember.
  • Your conversations - messages you send, and voice calls, which are transcribed so Solenna can hold the thread.
  • Circles activity - posts and replies you write under an alias.
  • Technical data - device type, app version, crash logs, and basic usage counts so we can fix what breaks.

Much of this is health-adjacent information about substance use. We treat all of it as sensitive, whether or not the law where you live calls it that.

04Why we hold it

To run the service, and specifically: so Solenna answers with your context instead of asking you to explain yourself again; so check-ins arrive before the hours you named; so your days, savings and milestones are still there tomorrow; and so we can route you to real human help if you're in danger.

We hold nothing that isn't doing one of those jobs. Anything you tell Solenna about your substance use is held because you chose to tell it, and you can withdraw that by deleting the entry or the account.

05AI processing

Solenna is AI. Your messages are sent to a large language model to generate replies, and to a speech service during voice calls. Those providers process the message to answer it; we do not permit them to use your conversations to train public models. Solenna can be wrong, and it is never a substitute for a clinician.

No human at Solenna reads your conversations as a matter of course. The narrow exceptions - a safety review, or a bug you report to us with a transcript attached - are logged.

06Circles are pseudonymous

In Circles you appear as an alias you choose, never your name. We don't ask for your contacts, and we don't match you to people you know. Your garden is private by default and only visible to others if you turn sharing on. Anything you post is visible to other members, so treat it as public within the room.

07What we never do

  • Sell or rent your data. Not to advertisers, not to insurers, not to data brokers.
  • Use your conversations to target ads, inside the app or anywhere else.
  • Tell anyone in your life that you use Solenna.
  • Publish or share your story without you asking us to.

08Sharing, only where we must

We use vetted providers to host data, process payments, send email and run the AI model, all under contract and only for those jobs. We'll disclose data if the law compels it, or where we believe in good faith that someone's life is at immediate risk.

For the waitlist, which is all that exists today, those providers are Vercel (which serves this site and runs the form) and Neon (which stores the list). A new signup also posts a notification to a private Slack channel we watch, and a tally goes there once a night - those messages contain counts and campaign tags, never your email address.

We'll name the rest on this page before the app launches, and tell you before we add a new one.

09How it's kept

Encrypted in transit and at rest. Staff access is limited to the few people who need it to run or support the service, and it's logged. No system is perfect; if a breach affects you, we'll say so promptly and plainly.

10How long we keep it

Your account data and memories stay while your account is open, and go when you delete it. Waitlist emails are deleted if you unsubscribe or if we don't launch.

Deletion clears our live systems immediately and works through our backups on their own rotation. The only things that outlive a deleted account are records we are legally required to keep, such as payment and tax records, which are kept for that purpose and nothing else. Exact periods for each type of data will be listed here before the app launches.

11Your controls

  • Check-ins - turn proactive messages off in one tap, with quiet hours of your own.
  • Memory - read everything Solenna remembers, correct it, or delete any entry.
  • Export - ask for a copy of your data.
  • Delete - delete your account and we remove your profile, memories and conversations, keeping only what the law requires us to.
  • Unsubscribe - every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
  • Leave the waitlist - the app isn't out yet, so this one is live now: email us and we delete your address and its campaign tag from the list. No account needed, no reason asked.

Email hi@solenna.app for anything you can't do in the app and we'll handle it.

12Where your data lives

Today the only personal data we hold is the waitlist. It is stored in the United States, in Northern Virginia, and the code that writes to it runs there too. The Slack notification, which carries no email address, is read wherever we are. The hosting regions for the app, whether your data crosses a border, and the safeguards we rely on when it does, will be set out here before launch.

13Cookies and analytics

This site sets no cookies and runs no advertising trackers. It does use one analytics script, from Opinly, and this section says exactly what it does - including the one thing we have switched off.

Our own measurement is a count. Once you have been on the page for a few seconds, or start scrolling, it tells our own server that the page was viewed and which campaign tag the link carried, and the server adds one to that hour's tally. Nothing identifies you in that count - no cookie, no IP address, no device fingerprint - so we cannot tell two visits by the same person apart, and we do not try. We use the tallies to see how many people who arrive from a given link go on to join.

The analytics script. Opinly records which pages are opened, how far down them people read, which links are clicked, and the campaign tag the link carried. To tell one visit from the next it stores four things in your browser: a random visitor id, a session id, the campaign tag you arrived with, and a note that it has counted your first visit. These are kept in local storage on your device, not in cookies, and the random id is not your name - but it does mean repeat visits from the same browser can be counted as the same person. Clearing site data removes all four.

What we turned off. Left as it ships, that script reads an email address out of a form as soon as you type it and move on, and sends it - before you have pressed anything, and whether or not you then change your mind. We have disabled that on the waitlist form, using the switch the vendor provides for it (data-opinly-no-capture). Your address reaches us only when you submit the form, and it goes to us, not to Opinly.

The other third-party request is the two typefaces, which come from Google Fonts and which receive your IP address in order to serve them. If what we measure changes, this section changes with it, and the date at the top of this page moves.

14Regional rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, or port your data - and to complain to your data protection authority.

To use any of them, email hi@solenna.app and we'll act on it within the time your local law allows. We do not sell personal information, and we never have. If you're in the EU or UK you can also complain to your national data protection authority.

15Age

Solenna is for adults. You must be 18 or older to join the waitlist or use the app. We don't knowingly collect anything from anyone younger, and we delete it if we find it.

16Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email you before it takes effect and update the date at the top of this page.

17Contact
